Synopsis:

As her castle is surrounded, Lady Macbeth stays in her chamber where she reflects on ambition, infidelity, her choices, and the nature of truth and confession, hoping--perhaps--to clean her soul before taking her

own life.

note - it is possible to double Doctor with either Macbeth or Duncan if needed

Setting & Requirements:

Set in Lady Macbeth's chamber at the castle at Dunsinane; requiring basic furnishings and props. This play runs ten minutes.

Production History:

This play had its first staged reading as part of a developmental evening hosted by the author and Dawson Moore, (then literary manager of the Eureka) at the Eureka Theatre in San Francisco in October 2000.

Monologue For Lady Macbeth was first produced by the Long Island City Arts Project for SpringFest 2001 (May) with the following cast: Dana Bennison, Jeremy Sumpman, and Chrissy Hogue.

In January 2002, Heartlande Theatre Company produced Monologue for Lady Macbeth in Ann Arbour for their 24 Hour Play Marathon.

In January 2004 it was short-listed for The Newtown Theatre's Short And Sweet Festival in Sydney, and in February it was a finalist for the Boca Raton Theatre Guild's short play contest and festival in Florida.

Monologue For Lady Macbeth was also produeced at the Mae West Festival in Seattle, in May 2006.

Monologue For Lady Macbeth was produced at The Beckman in New York City, 314 West 54th Street (between 8th and 9th) by Brief Acts Company for Love Creek Productions. 2006 October 9, 10 and 12 at 9.00 PM, October 13 at 8.00 PM and October 14 at 3.00 PM. This production was subsequently sent on to the Sam French Festival in 2007.
